Staying safe

Meet in daylight in a public place. Bring someone with you for high-value items and tell somebody where you are going.

Inspect before you pay. Check that the item, serial numbers and condition match the listing.

Pay through the Mtaani M-Pesa prompt where it is offered, so you have an order reference. Avoid deposits to unknown numbers.

Pressure to pay immediately, prices far below market, refusal to meet, requests to move off the platform, and requests for your PIN or M-Pesa PIN.

Mtaani staff will never ask for your PIN or a verification code. Anyone who does is trying to steal your account.
